1. Why did you choose Fondren Fitness as your workout home?
I live in Belhaven but work and have several meetings around Fondren, so the location is perfect for me. I also wanted to join a gym that offered more than just weights and space. The fitness classes and personal training sealed the deal to leave my old gym.
2. Describe your typical workout at Fondren Fitness.
I’m at FF a lot! Monday and Wednesday I do barre with Grant. His classes have helped me be more intentional about my core and increasing my flexibility. At 5am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I train with Henry. We typically focus on building my chest, back, and arms. Then I head straight to kickboxing with James at 5:30am. Kickboxing is probably my favorite because not only am I guaranteed to get a good sweat in, but I’ve learned technical aspects of boxing and my kicks are incredible. 😉
3. How do you motivate yourself on days you don’t feel like exercising?
On the days it is tough to get out of bed, I think about a few of my “before I turn 30” goals – becoming a gogo dancer, completing an Ironman, and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. My daily routine at FF helps me get one step closer to those goals. Fortunately, I grew up running 30 miles a week and eventually 50 miles as I got older, so I’ve become conditioned to exercise without much motivation.
4. What do you wish other people knew about Fondren Fitness?
It’s exactly what you’d expect from a local gym – friendly staff, clean facility, a wide variety of classes, and personal trainers who care about your goals.
